Dress code for dengue

The instruction makes it mandatory for all boys to wear full pants, full shirts and girls to be dressed in salwar-kameez. Besides, it has issued a number of dos and don’ts to keep children fit and healthy in this season of high fever and low immunity. About six more English medium schools are contemplating coming up with a similar dress code for children.

“In the wake of rising cases of viral fever, the school issued a notice advising parents to send their children fully clothed. We have also asked students to follow a set of regulations to keep fit during this period,” said Rajesh Pandey, administrator.

The DAV advisory came after deputy commissioner Himani Pandey recently appealed to schools to adopt “precautionary” measures to check the spread of the fever. “The DC had recently asked us to take precautionary measures and the DAV initiative is a reflection of this,” said A P R Nair, convener of Jharkhand Unaided English Medium Schools.

He also said schools could not make the code mandatory but they could certainly expect parents to cooperate in this hour of crisis. “Parents are expected to cooperate for the welfare of their children,” said Nair.
